The Great Musical Irony...

My cousin pointed out to one of the weirdest things that has happened till this time in my musical journey. I had composed a beautiful song "Get Down, Get Movin'" in 2006. It was an ultimate dance number and I had even asked some of my IITD friends to dance on it when my song gets released.

While singing out this song to my cousin, this summer, he pointed out to the striking similarity between my tunes and tunes of Pritam's superhit number "Yeh ishq Haye" from Jab We Met, released in 2007.

I was baffled. There was a mixture of happiness and rage. I was happy as I had composed a very hit tune, that Pritam had used in one of his finest works and one of the year's biggest hits! But I was a little disappointed, as now I can't ever publish this song of mine.

Had I been a big director, i could have filed a case on Pritam, for copying my tunes, but the truth is that it is simply impossible that Pritam could have heard my songs while composing the song "Yeh Ishq Haye".

Though its a well known fact that Pritam notoriously copies East Asian songs, and infact "Yeh ishq haye" too was a copy from Anggun's "Etre Una Femme". Here's the original song:

When I compare my own song with the original, there's just minimal similarity, meaning that my song is surely an original.

Though its great that i had composed the "Rain Dance" song and it was later mixed with "Get down, Get movin'" song. The beauty of the mixed song lies in its beginning, its beats which is still has not been reproduced by anyone(either mistakenly or deliberately . It neither uses drums, nor guitar, nor tabla, nothing... it only uses the the sound of the falling rain on a tightly held shirt... Its unique, original and artistic.. and thus difficult to copy.

I am damn sure that the rain dance part can not be reproduced by any anyone, anywhere... and till that time I will be searching for a alternative music that get along with the phenomenal beats of the song.

Though I would have to say... music too easy... though very tough. When you try you won't get it... and when you stop... it knocks at your door. That's an irony... isn't it? And its good that I am mastering this art of not trying. And its really true that music knocks on my door.

Thanks to God in the form of music for coming in my life... and making it so special.

Thanks for your advice... surely Music is probably the most difficult industry for all... even the best of the singers are struggling... so I just enjoying it... not bothering about what is about to come, or can it be my career. And I am not that dumb to give everything else to pursue a career in music. i am just enjoying it... and that too very personally (I don't even participate in College Competitions.) Music is like breathing. You can do many other things along with it...
